3 Fertility Diet Tips That Won’t Break the Bank

with No Comments

Let’s be real — so many fertility diet recommendations include incorporating fancy supplements and expensive food products! Not all of us have the bandwidth in our budget to sustain this.

So what changes can we make to our diets that will positively impact fertility and won’t break the bank? Here are 3 below.

Listen to Your Body.

Often we eat so quickly or while we are on the go, we don’t pay attention to signals that our body might be sending us. Next time you feel bloated or uncomfortable, take note! Create a journal or note on your phone to keep track of whether your body might be sending out red flags to you. Additionally, if you are used to eating until you are stuffed, practice scaling back until you stop eating at 80% full. Then wait 30 minutes and see if you are still hungry before having seconds.

Truly Sweet.

Avoid artificial sweeteners like aspartame and splenda which have been shown to cause cancer. Instead, opt for natural sweeteners like honey and maple syrup. Even though they are natural, they still aren’t necessarily “good” for you — so if you can, try to slowly decrease the amount of sweetener you put in your coffee and tea over time.

Diversify Your Diet.

Get into the habit of trying new foods! Do you find yourself cooking green beans as a side frequently? Try brussel sprouts instead. Have a habit of going to white rice? Experiment with brown rice or quinoa as an alternative. Always bring a banana to work as a snack? Switch things up and bring an apple or berries. The micronutrients in these different foods make more of an impact on our health than we realize!
